Consumptive water use is the water withdrawn that is evaporated, transpired, lost to leakage, incorporated into products or crops, consumed by humans or livestock, transferred to another area, or otherwise removed from the immediate water environment. Nearly 59 percent (142 Mgal/d) of the total water withdrawn in the Middle Chattahoochee Water Planning Region was consumed, mostly due to the high irrigation use in the area in 2005.
