Water Use in the Coosa-North Georgia Region, 2005

The Water Plan establishes a regional approach to guide water management in Georgia through the creation of 11 water planning councils in these regions. The Coosa-North Georgia Region is composed of Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Dawson, Fannin, Floyd, Gilmer, Gordon, Habersham, Lumpkin, Murray, Pickens, Polk, Towns, Union, Walker, White, and Whitfield counties in north-west Georgia. In 2005, total water withdrawals for the Region were about 744 million gallons per day (Mgal/d), which was about 14 percent of Georgia's total withdrawals of about 5,412 Mgal/d.
