Coastal HydroWatch: Ground-Water Quality

Home | Ground-Water Levels | Surface-Water Flow and Quality | How Can I Get the Data?

Introduction

Monitoring ground-water quality is important for protection of our drinking-water supply. Saltwater contamination has occurred at the City of Brunswick and is currently being monitored on an annual basis by the USGS, in cooperation with the City of Brunswick–Glynn County. Information on the cooperative program can be found online at http://ga.water.usgs.gov/projects/brunswick/

Water-level declines resulted in saltwater contamination at Hilton Head Island and Brunswick.

Long-term monitoring enabled tracking of growth of saltwater plume at Brunswick.
