Chattahoochee National Recreation Area, Georgia

SITE INFORMATION
Chattahoochee River at Johnsons Ferry Rd. near Atlanta, GA (02335830)

LOCATION.--Lat 33o56.36", long 84o24.17", Fulton-Cobb County line, Hydrologic Unit 03130001, on the downstream end of bridge on Johnson Ferry Road, 2.1 mi downstream from Morgan Falls Dam, 2.0 mi upstream from Sope Creek, 13.5 mi north of the Georgia State Capitol, and at mile 310.5.

DRAINAGE AREA.--1,380 mi2.

MICROBIAL DATA:
PERIOD OF RECORD.--March 1999 to present.
COOPERATION.--Water-quality samples collected with assistance of National Park Service.
CHEMICAL DATA:
PERIOD OF RECORD.--August 1977 to December 1977.
STREAM DISCHARGE DATA:
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1994 to January 1998 (discontinued).
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 807.78 ft above sea level (levels by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).
REMARKS.--Records good to fair, except those for the periods of estimated daily discharge, which are fair. Flow regulated by Lake Sidney Lanier (USGS station 02334400). Diversions above station by Gwinnett, Dekalb, Fulton and Cobb Counties and City of Roswell; return flows above station by Gwinnett and Fulton Counties. Considerable diurnal fluctuations caused by Morgan Falls hydroelectric plant 2.1 mi above station. Water-discharge records for the period October 1994 to January 1999 are in reports published by the U.S. Geological Survey.
