January 2002
During January 2002, all of the index stations showed significant decreases in monthly mean streamflow from the previous month. Most of the State received near normal rainfall for the month, which helped to sustain monthly streamflow across most of the State. In January, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State increased from the previous monthly flows (about 15-60 percent of normal), and ranged from about 35-75 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed slight increases from the previous monthly flows (about 25-30 percent of normal), and ranged from about 25-50 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in the southern part of the State remained about the same as the previous monthly flows (about 2-50 percent of normal), and ranged from about 2-45 percent of normal.
For the month of January, 4 of the 15-index streamflow stations recorded a new monthly minimum flow:
February 2002
During February 2002, all of the index stations showed significant decreases in monthly mean streamflow from the previous month. Most of the State received below normal rainfall for the month, which caused an overall decrease in monthly streamflow across most of the State. In February, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State increased from the previous monthly flows (about 35-75 percent of normal), and ranged from about 30-70 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed slight increases from the previous monthly flows (about 25-50 percent of normal), and ranged from about 40-50 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in the southern part of the State remained about the same as the previous monthly flows (about 2-45 percent of normal), and ranged from about 5-40 percent of normal. For the month of February, only one of the 15-index streamflow stations recorded a new monthly minimum flow:
March 2002
During March 2002, all of the index stations showed significant decreases
in monthly mean streamflow from the previous month. Some areas of the
State received near normal rainfall for the month, which caused an overall
increase in monthly streamflow across most of the State. In March, monthly
streamflow in the northern part of the State increased from the previous
monthly flows (about 30-50 percent of normal), and ranged from about 40-60
percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed slight
increases from the previous monthly flows (about 40-50 percent of normal),
and ranged from about 40-55 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in the
southern part of the State increased from the previous monthly flows (about
2-45 percent of normal), and ranged from about 15-45 percent of normal.
For the month of March, none of the 15-index streamflow stations recorded a
new monthly minimum flow or recorded an all time minimum daily flow of
record.
April 2002
During April 2002, all of the index stations showed an increase in monthly
mean streamflow from the previous month. Some areas of the State received
near normal rainfall for the month, which caused an overall increase in
monthly streamflow across most of the State. In April, monthly streamflow
in the northern part of the State increased from the previous monthly flows
(about 40-60 percent of normal), and ranged from about 40-65 percent of
normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed slight increases from
the previous monthly flows (about 40-55 percent of normal), and ranged from
about 45-55 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in the southern part of
the State increased from the previous monthly flows (about 15-45 percent of
normal), and ranged from about 15-50 percent of normal. For the month of
April, none of the 15-index streamflow stations recorded a new monthly
minimum flow or recorded an all time minimum daily flow of record.
May 2002
During May 2002, most of the index stations showed a decrease in monthly mean streamflow from the previous month. Rainfall amounts across the State varied widely, with some areas of the State receiving near normal rainfall for the month, and other areas receiving little or no rainfall. This highly variable rainfall amounts, caused an overall decrease in monthly streamflow across most of the State. In May, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State increased from the previous monthly flows (about 40-65 percent of normal), and ranged from about 50-65 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed slight increases from the previous monthly flows (about 45-55 percent of normal), and ranged from about 45-60 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in the southern part of the State decreased from the previous monthly flows (about 15-50 percent of normal), and ranged from about 5-50 percent of normal. For the month of May, one of the 15-index streamflow stations, Ohoopee River Near Reidsville, recorded a new monthly minimum flow of 34 cubic feet per second. None of the index sites recorded an all time minimum daily flow of record.
June 2002
During June 2002, most of the index stations showed significant decreases in monthly mean streamflow from the previous month. Rainfall amounts across the State varied widely, with some areas of the State receiving little or no rainfall for the month. These highly variable rainfall amounts caused an overall decrease in monthly streamflow across the State. In June, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State decreased from the previous monthly flows (about 50-65 percent of normal), and ranged from about 25-45 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed decreases from the previous monthly flows (about 45-60 percent of normal), and ranged from about 35-50 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in the southern part of the State decreased from the previous monthly flows (about 5-50 percent of normal), and ranged from about 2-30 percent of normal.
For the month June, three of the 15-index streamflow stations recorded new minimum monthly flows of record.
One of the index sites, Ohoopee River near Reidsville, recorded an all time minimum daily flow of record of 16 cfs.
July 2002
During July 2002, most of the index stations showed significant decreases in monthly mean streamflow from the previous month. Rainfall amounts across the State varied widely, with some areas of the State receiving little or no rainfall for the month. These highly variable rainfall amounts caused an overall decrease in monthly streamflow across the State. In July, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State decreased from the previous monthly flows (about 25-45 percent of normal), and ranged from about 25-40 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed decreases from the previous monthly flows (about 35-50 percent of normal), and ranged from about 20-50 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in the southern part of the State remained about the same from the previous monthly flows (about 2-30 percent of normal), and ranged from about 2-30 percent of normal.
For the month of July, none of the 15-index streamflow stations recorded a new minimum monthly or minimum daily flow of record.

During August 2002, all of the index stations showed significant decreases in monthly mean streamflow from the previous month. Rainfall amounts across the State varied widely, with some areas of the State receiving little or no rainfall for the month. These highly variable rainfall amounts caused an overall decrease in monthly streamflow across the State. In August, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State decreased from the previous monthly flows (about 25-40 percent of normal), and ranged from about 15-35 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed decreases from the previous monthly flows (about 20-50 percent of normal), and ranged from about 10-40 percent of normal. In November, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State increased from the previous monthly flows (about 70-170 percent of normal), and ranged from about 130-150 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed increases from the previous monthly flows (about 70-120 percent of normal), and ranged from about 90-150 percent of normal. During December 2002, monthly mean streamflow for all of the index stations remained about the same as the previous month. Rainfall amounts across the State varied widely, with some areas of the State receiving near or above normal rainfall for the month. This variable but consistent rainfall amounts were enough to maintain or cause an overall increase in monthly streamflow across the State. In December, monthly streamflow in the northern part of the State increased somewhat from the previous monthly flows (about 130-150 percent of normal), and ranged from about 120-170 percent of normal. Monthly streamflow in central Georgia showed no significant increases from the previous monthly flows (about 90-150 percent of normal), and ranged from about 75-170 percent of normal.
