USGS ACF-NAWQA River Basin Study
USGS ACF-NAWQA. What's New?

What's NEW in the Apalachicola, Chattahoochee, and Flint River Basin study?

Horizontal Line
Influences of Watershed Land Use on Stream Ecosystem Structure and Function

The project is a collaborative research investigation between the University of Georgia and the U.S. Geological Survey, ACF NAWQA Project. The objectives of the study are to

  1. Determine the predictive relations between structural attributes and stream ecosystem function as measured by rates of carbon and nutrient transport, uptake, and metabolism.
  2. Determine if the functional measurements vary amoung streams undergoing differing stresses.
  3. Relate structural biological attributes and ecological function, measured at the scale of the stream reach to attributes of the watershed such as landuse.
